I don’t write songs that I think people want to hear, I write what I think they need to hear. This may sound egotistical and pompous, but I don’t mean it in that way. My songs come from my lessons learned the hard way, my coming to understand the harsh realities of this world, and my insights into human nature. They are a gift to the listener not a lesson. I truly love my fellow Americans, and value what it is to live the “American experience.” My mind is constantly imagining, resolving, and hypothesizing with the world we live in. To me every conversation is an insight into that man’s psyche, every story exchanged a micro history of the human experience. Sometimes people fail to see the Thomas Cunningham beyond the singer songwriter. I am a thinker, a laborer, a hunter, a son, a fisherman, a businessman, a friend, a lover, a revolutionary, a renaissance man. -Thomas
